Online Guide to Retirement for PERS and PFRS ONLY

Individuals are not enrolled in Part A (Hospital Insurance) automatically at age 65 unless receiving cash benefits from Social Security. If not receiving cash benefits, you would need to apply. Part A is free for those who have the required amount of earnings covered by Social Security. It is recommended by SSA at age 65 (even it you are still working) to apply, however there is no penalty for late enrollment in Part A.
