Emeritus Faculty Guidelines

1. Eligibility for Emeritus Faculty Status

a) Tenured at the time of retirement.

b) Served full time for at least ten years at The College of New Jersey.

c) Have attained the following titles of Associate Professor, Professor, Librarian I or II (or Assistant Professor if hired by The College prior to 1990).

d) Have taken full retirement from The College as set forth by the statutes governing The College’s retirement plan.

2. Rights and Privileges of Emeriti Faculty

a) The emeritus title will be the highest title held by the faculty member. For the purpose of address and listing in college publications, the titles of Professor Emeritus and Librarian Emeritus will be used for all faculty emeritus ranks.

b) Full faculty rights and privileges in the TCNJ Library and TCNJ Aquatic Center.

c) Full faculty rights and privileges to attend College social, cultural, and athletic events.

d) Listing in The College bulletin and other publications in which all faculty and administrators are listed.

e) Placement on mailing lists for College news publications.

f) Continued access to your college email account.

g) Emeritus ID card, with parking privileges. You must obtain your new ID card by visiting Student Accounts after your retirement date.

h) Eligibility for research and other grants with approval and cooperation of the appropriate department.


Emeritus Staff Guidelines

1. Eligibility for Emeritus Staff Status

a) Having retired from service at The College of New Jersey, as set forth by the statutes governing The College’s retirement plan.

b) Having served, as a full-time staff member, at The College of New Jersey for a period of at least ten years.

2. Rights and Privileges of Emeritus Staff

a) Full staff rights and privileges in the TCNJ Library and TCNJ Aquatic Center.

b) Full staff rights and privileges to attend College social, cultural, and athletic events.

c) Listing in The College bulletin and other publications in which all faculty and staff are listed.

d) Placement on mailing lists for College news publications.

e) Continued access to your college email account.

f) Emeritus ID card, with parking privileges. You must obtain your new ID card by visiting Student Accounts after your retirement date.
